I remember the time, in 2010, when both Jean de Grande and Jean-Christophe de Grande were invited to compete at a local event in Chaudfontaine, Belgium. For Jean de Grande it is one of the most memorable Puissance competitions in history.
Because – although there were not a lot of people, the competition turned out to become a clash of the Titans. “In the final round the wall was set at 2.30m heigh. I (Jean de Grande) had two horses left, Jean-Christophe one.” states Jean.
“I was first to go in and got one fault. I thought the ‘battle’ would be over and we would have split the earnings, however Jean-Christophe decided to compete nevertheless and he conquered the wall faultless… so I didn’t give in and kept it clear as well.”
A memorable show and great feeling to share the victory with my son…
